Growing up in a very food-centric home, Drew learned at an early age to appreciate food and wine. This passion was nurtured during a US Army tour in Germany, after which he attended culinary school. Upon graduation, Drew spent time in many kitchens, honing his skills. In his spare time and between shifts he often found himself reading wine lists and books about wine. Eventually this led him out of the kitchen and into the wine business.
Drew began his wine career with a large wholesaler, stocking wine on grocery stores. He took every opportunity to attend wine classes offered by the Court of Master Sommeliers, Wine and Spirits Education Trust and others. He quickly gained knowledge and rose through the ranks at the distributor. In 2004 Drew was given the opportunity to join the wine team at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse where he continues to pursue his passion. Then, in 2005 Drew co founded the Texas Sommelier Association and hosted the first annual Texas Sommelier Conference. Wine & Spirits Magazine also named him one of 2005’s “Best New Sommeliers”. Drew lives with his wife and son near Dallas, where he continues his commitment to wine education.
In 2008, Drew joined famed chef Charlie Palmer as Wine Director at his new Dallas endeavor, Charlie Palmer at the Joule. He also earned the very prestigious title of Master Sommelier.
