Chris Goodhart oversees some of the most successful restaurant wine scenes in New York City. As Wine Director for Balthazar, Pastis, Pravda, Lucky Strike and Schiller’s, Chris is at the top of his game. Chris studied with and was certified as a Sommelier through the New York Chapter of the Sommelier Society of America. Prior to managing the wine world of Keith McNally’s New York restaurant empire, Chris consulted with and developed wine programs for Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, the largest hotel group in the world, including the Westin, Sheraton, W Hotels, The St. Regis and the Luxury Collection.
In 1998, wine guru Kevin Zraly named Chris the Sommelier and Beverage Manager for the Windows on the World restaurant at the top of the World Trade Center. At the time, Windows on the World sold more wine than any other independent restaurant in the United States, with over $5 million in annual wine revenue.
Chris is also a published wine journalist, having contributed as a wine tasting panelist for the New York Times and The New York Times on the Web. He regularly sits on tasting panels for Wine and Spirits Magazine.
As a respected wine authority, Chris regularly consults to restaurants, private clubs and individuals, who utilize his expertise for lectures, wine dinners, and to evaluate their wine collections. Chris has also volunteered wine services for charity events conducted at Christie’s auction house.
