Alan Kropf is the Sommelier at the historic Polo Lounge in the Beverly Hills Hotel. Alan is known to some as the "sommelier to the stars", as the Polo Lounge has long been a haven for Hollywood professionals seeking a gourmet meal and nice bottle of wine. The Polo Lounge's wine list has won Wine Spectator awards, with over six hundred selections and a focus on the very best wines California has to offer.
Alan originally hails from Seattle, Washington, and credits his father, who is an agronomist with Washington State University, with getting him interested in agriculture, which ultimately led to a career in wine. Alan moved to Los Angeles, California and became a certified sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers. He spent some time working at Hatfields, a small French-American restaurant in West Hollywood, before taking the Sommelier position at the Beverly Hills Hotel. In addition to the Sommelier duties in the Polo Lounge, Alan coordinates wine education throughout the hotel and assists with wine selections for weddings and special events.
